Abstract
Description
Growth and yield of Solanum khasianum when intercropped with carrot and cauliflower cropsSolanum khasianum Clarke was intercropped with carrot and cauliflower. Plant growth and yield were measured over a period of 10 months, from November (Wet season) to August (Dry Season). This field trial was carried out an Andosol soil type, 1.200 m above sea level with annual rainfall 2.202 mm in Manoko Experimental Station, Lembang. Crops were grown in monoculture and in various intercropped combinations with four replications of each treatment. After 5.5 months there was a significant increase in plant height of S. khasianum intercropped with cauflower. However, there was no significant increase in either the basal girth of the stems or the berries S. khasianum when was grown with carrot or cauflower. The land equivalent ratio was highest when S. khasianum was grown intercropped with cauflower, and this combination also gave the best economic returns.
