Krayan Buffalo is one of the main components in the organic farming system that has been carried out by farmers in Krayan District for generations and currently there has been a depletion of one of the components in the organic farming system, namely Krayan Buffalo from year to year, resulting in reduced use of fertilizers. organic origin from buffalo in rice fields which results in the threat of organic farming systems that have been applied by farmers for a long time. The study aims to determine the potential for Krayan Buffalo development in upland rice field agroecosystems by setting a priority scale for Krayan Buffalo development in North Kalimantan Province. The study was carried out in Krayan District, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan Province in 2018-2019. The data used are primary data and secondary data. Data was collected using structured interview techniques using questionnaires, observations and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The potential for developing Krayan Buffalo is based on a priority scale which is very important so that the buffalo population can increase, using the Analithical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The results of the study were described in a descriptive analysis to describe regional data, characteristics of livestock farmers and the pattern of keeping Krayan Buffaloes in the rice planting season and in the rice harvest season. Based on the results of the analysis, three important priority criteria must be done in line so that the Krayan Buffalo population can increase, namely: 1) feed, 2) natural feed carrying capacity, and 3) reproduction. These three criteria were the main priority scale to support the development of the Krayan Buffalo livestock business in the upland rice field agro-ecosystem to support local and export food security.
