Description
Some biological aspects, life cycle, fecundity, mortality, leeding activity and sex ratio of menthe leaves suller, S. abruptalis WALK have been investigated. The observation were conducted in the entomological green house of the Research Institute for Spice and Medicinal Crops Bogor from April to July 1993. The results showed that the life cycle of this insect lasted 21 to 32 days, the range of fecundity 45-192 eggs per female with the percentage to become adult 29 percent. The sex ratio of male to female was 1 : 1. One larva consumed about 16.3 cm2 of menthe leaves or about 6.5 pieces of normal leaves during the stage.
