Effect of types and leaf maturities on oil and eugenol contents of cloveEffectof types and leaf maturities on oil and eugenol contents of clove was studied at the Technology Laboratory of Balittro. The clove types used were Zanzibar, Sikotok, Ambon and Hutan. The young, mature or fallen leaves of these types was taken for experiment. The experiment was designed as a completely randomized, arranged factorially in two replication. The leaf sample were taken from Cimanggu Experimantal Garden, bogor. The result of experiment show that the oil content of Hutan type clove leaf was much lower then the others, but there is no significant difference between Zanzibar, Sikotok and Ambon types. The oil content of young leaf is higher then the mature and the fallen ones. Furthermore the clove leaf oil of Zanzibar contained the highest total eugenol and that of Hutan type was the lowest. For Zanzibar the total eugenol content of fallen leaf was lower than that of mature and young leaf. For Ambon, Sikotok and Hutan types, the total eugenol content of mature, young or fallen leaves was not different.
