The effect of Helopeltis antonii punctures on twigs of cashew plant.An experiment to study the effect of H. antonii punctures on twigs of cashew plant was conducted at Bali Anacardia Plantation, Sukadana village, Kubu district, Karangasem, Bali from July to September 1994. Ten flowering/fruiting cashew trees, five years old were selected for the experiment. Six dying and living twigs (25 cm length) were randomly sampled from each tree. Every twigh was then classified into four parts, growing point, top, middle and bottom parts. The number of Helopeltis punctures were observed once, while further development of the twig were observed every week. Results of the observation showed that a puncture on the growing point caused the death of the upper twig. However the attack on top, middle and bottom parts of the twigg did not affeet the twig.
