Abstract
Description
Cinnamon branch and twig oil distillation.Cinnamon bark is traded as spice and essential oil. The branches and twigs of cinnamon are rarely traded as spice because of the high labour cost for its processing. It is usually used as fuel. In order to gain an added value, the quality analysis and distillation experiment was conducted to get its essential oil. From the branch and the twig analysis result, it was found that they still could be used as spice in KC quality. The oil yield obtained is 0.16 – 0.26% for the branch and 0.15 – 0.18% for the twig. The cinnamaldehyde content of the oil from the branches and the twigs are 42.40% and 35.40% respectively.
