Innovation on Biotic and Abiotic Stress Management to Maintain Productivity of Spice Crops in Indonesia

Abstract
The state of the art of current topics of innovation on biotic and abiotic stress management in spice crops reflected in this book by presenting 33 papers including 2 (two) power points presented by keynote speakers and participants specialists in their field of sciences. The keynote speakers are from several research institute and related institutions overseas and Indonesia, such as (1) the Center for Natural Biological Resources and Community Development (CNBRCD), Bangalore-India, (2) the Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad-India, (3) the Indin Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Division of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, New Delhi-India, (4) Executive Director of the International Pepper Community (IPC), Jakarta-Indonesia, (5) the Indonesian Spice and Medicinal Crop Research Institute (ISMECRI), the Indonesian Center for Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD), Bogor, and (6) the Indonesian Soil Research Institute (ISRI), Bogor. The workshop was attended by scientists and officials from various research institutions and related institutions under the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD). We are great appreciation to all participants of the workshop, who had attended and actively participated in the discussion for the successful deliberation on the topic and objectives of the workshop. We thank the authors for providing qualified articles. We also thank to the Indonesia Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD) and the Sustainable Management of Agricultural Research and Technology Disseminations (SMARTD) for the generous financial support to the workshop, as well as to the Indonesian Center for Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD), which contributed to the publication of the book. This book has been evaluated by the experience editors. Special acknowledgment to Dr. D. J. Bagyarad and Dr. Suresh C. Kaushik for their valuable contribution in the final editing of the book. We hope this book will improve researchers’ insight and knowledge related to the biotic and abiotic stress management, as well as in inspiring networks to sustain productivity and quality of spices in Indonesia based on the understanding of the current knowledge and information.
Description
This book is a compilation of papers presented at the “International Workshop on Innovation of Environmental Stress Management for Spice Crops” held in the Indonesian Spice and Medicinal Crop Research Institute (ISMECRI) on August 25-27, 2015 in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. The theme of the workshop was “Innovation on Biotic and Abiotic Stress Management in Spices to Maintain Productivity and Quality”. The workshop aims to share information and experiences amongst researchers in Indonesia and abroad to improve knowledge and understanding of managing biotic and abiotic stress on spice crops.
