| dc.description.abstract | Abstrak Daya simpan benih tergantung pada beberapa faktor seperti, varietas, waktu panen, pengeringan, dan lingkungan simpan benih. Mempertahankan vigor dan viabilitas benih selama penyimpanan merupakan tujuan utama penyimpanan benih. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi daya simpan benih dari 15 varietas unggul baru (VUB) berdasarkan respon perkecambahan benih terhadap penyimpanan. Benih 15 VUB diperbanyak dengan menerapkan teknik produksi benih pada MH 2011 di Kebun Percobaan Sukamandi Balai Besar Penelitian Tanaman Padi. Benih baru panen yang telah dikeringkan dan telah mencapai kadar air aman untuk penyimpanan (≤11%) dikemas dalam kantong plastik polietilen 0.8 mm kemudian disimpan pada dua kondisi simpan; (1) kondisi simpan kamar (T=27-32oC; RH=65-80%), dan (2) kondisi simpan terkendali (T=16-18oC and RH=45-0%). Evaluasi kadar air dan kecambah normal dilakukan pada awal simpan, 3, 6, dan 8 bulan setelah simpan. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan 3 faktor (varietas, kondisi simpan, dan periode simpan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 15 VUB yang diuji memiliki viabilitas yang tinggi ditunjukkan dengan nilai rata-rata daya berkecambah >80% dan kadar air benih <11%. Sebanyak 8 VUB diprediksi memiliki daya simpan yang lebih panjang dari 8 bulan, dikonfirmasi dengan nilai vigor setelah penuaan rata-rata mencapai >80%. Kondisi simpan terkendali mampu mempertahankan vigor benih seluruh varietas yang diuji ditunjukkan dengan nilai KCT yang konstan tinggi sampai dengan akhir penyimpanan. Abstract Seed storability depends on several factors such as variety, harvesting time, seed drying after harvest, and environment condition during storage. Maintaining seed vigor and viability during storage is the prime goal of seed storage. Studies were carried out to evaluate the storability of 15 new improved-varieties based on seed germination response to storage. The seeds of 15 varieties were reproduced by applying seed production techniques at rainy season of 2011 in Sukamandi Research Station of Indonesian Center for Rice Research. Dried seeds with moisture content around 11% were packed in 0.8 mm polyethylene plastic and then stored in two conditions; (1) ambient storage (T=27-32oC; RH=65-80%), and (2) controlled storage (T=16-18oC and RH=45-50%). Evaluation of seed moisture content and normal seedling percentage were done at the beginning of storage, 3, 6, and 8 months after storage. The experiment was arranged in completely randomized design with three factors (variety, storage conditions, and storage period). The results showed that 15 tested varieties had high viability indicated by germination percentage more than 80% and moisture content less than 11%. A total of 8 varieties showed values >80% of vigor after accelerated aging test. Controlled storage was able to retain seed vigor of all tested varieties, shown by the index of speed of germination constantly high until the end of storage. | |
