| dc.description.abstract | Abstract Productivity and Yield Components of Rice as a Function of Plant Population. A field experiment to evaluate the relationship between plant population and the rice yields was conducted at the Muara Experimental Station, the Indonesian Center for Rice Research (OCRR), during the WS of 2009/2010. The trial was arranged in a Randomized Completely Block Design with three replications. The treatments were eight plant spacing's, Le. 50 cm x 50 cm up to 20-40 cm x 10 cm, in under to obtain the plant population tain the plant population of 4-33 hills/square meter. Results of the experiment indicated that the number of illiers per hill was affected by the plant density. The lower the plant densities, the lesser the number of tillers per hill as the development of tillers stopped as the rice plants reached the age of 40 day after transplanting (DAT). In contrast, the higher the plant densities, the higher the number of tillers per hill as t s the development of tillers was continued until the rice plants reached the age of 70 DAT. Plant densities affected the ring of the plant canopy, the number of filled grain per hill, and the humbler of panicles per square meter. The ring of plant canopy, the number of filled grain per hill, and the length of panicles per hill decreased with the plant densities. The ring of plant canopy a y at the low plant densities (8) reached 101 cm. and at the two high plant densities of 11 and 12 it reached 27 and 32 cm, respectively. The number of filled grain per hill, at the low plant densities reached 5,837 grains per hill, and at the high plant densities it reached 947 grains per hill. The length of panicles at the low density was 1.100 cm, and at the high density was 200 2 cm. In contrast, the number of panicles per square meter increased with the plant densities. The number of panicles per square meter at the low density was 175 and at the high density were 367. The yield of dried grains per hectare at high plant densities reached 7.17 tons milled dried grains, but at the low plant densities it reached 4.10 tons milled dried grains per hectare Abstrak Peningkatan produktivitas tanaman padi, selain ditentukan oleh faktor genetik varietas, juga oleh pengaturan populasi dan orientasi jarak tanam. Percobaan telah dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Muara, Bogor, BB Padi pada musim hujan (MH) 2008/2009. Delapan perlakuan jarak tanam 50 cm x 50 cm hingga jajar legowo 2:1 ((20 x 10) x 40) cm untuk memperoleh populasi tanaman 4-33 ak Kelompok dengan 3 rumpun/m² ditata dalam Rancangan Acak ulangan. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa populasi tanaman berbanding terbalik dengan jumlah anakan/rumpun. Makin rapat populasi tanaman, jumlah anakan/rumpun makin sedikit, atau sebaliknnya makin lebar jarak tanam, jumlah anakan/rumpun makin banyak. Fenomena ini disebabkan karena pada jarak tanam rapat, pembentukan anakan sudah berhenti saat sekitar 40 hari setelah tanam (HST), sementara dengan jarak tanam lebar, pembentukan anakan berlanjut hingga tanaman mencapai umur 70 HST. Lingkar tajuk pada jarak tanam terlebar (18) mencapai 101 cm, sedangkan pada jarak tanam sempit 11 dan J2 berturut-turut mencapai 27 cm dan 32 cm. Bobot gabah isi per rumpun mencapai 947 dan 5.837 butir/rumpun, berturut-turut pada populasi tertinggi dan pada populasi terendah, Jumlah Panjang malai/rumpun pada populasi tertinggi mencapai 200 cm, sedangkan pada populasi terendah mencapai 1.100 cm. Namun demikian, jumlah malai per m' pada populasi tertinggi mencapai 367 dan pada populasi terendah hanya 175. Hasil gabah bersih/ha mencapai 7,171 dan 4.10 t/ha GKG, berturut-turut pada populasi tinggi dan populasi rendah. angan | |
