Abstract
Description
The relationship between various morphological characters with the production and oil content of patchouly.Characterization of various morphological characters and estimation of the production and soil content of patchouli is very important in plant selection. A field experiment was conducted in Manoko, Lembang, from July 1993 to February 1994, to characterize some morphological characters and estimate their affect to production and oil content of patchouly. The experimental design used was aRandomized Block Design with 10 types as the treatment replicated 3 times. Each types, were observed for 9 characters i.e. plant height, number of branch, length of branch, number of leaf per branch, length of leaf, width of leaf, leaf thicknes, production (terna) and oil content. A path analysis was employed obtain direct and indirect effects of the morphological characters to the yield and to the oil content. The result showed that number of branch, length of branch, number of leaf per branch and leaf thickness were directly affect the production. However, plant height length and width of leaf indirectly affect the production. Characters that directly affect the oil content were length of branch number of leaf per branch, length of leaf and leaf thicknes. Plant height and width of leaf were indirectly effect the oil content.
