Abstract
Analysis of Rice Grain Quality of the New Plant Type Promising Lines. The New Plant Type (NPT) of rice yielded higher than the new non-NPT rice varieties, but its grain quality still needed to be evaluated. This experiment was done to evaluate the grain quality of NPT promising lines obtained from multi locations and advance yield trial of NPT 2007. Results indicated that the content of brown rice, milled rice, and head rice of the lines tested were 74-79%, 60-68%, and 42-97%, respectively. All the lines have long rice (6.6-7.5), medium shape (2.1-3.0) and variation of chalkiness from large (>20%) to small (<10%). Eleven lines have high amylose content, in which the B10528E-KN-29-3 was the highest (27.44%). Two lines have medium amylose content; they were BP23F-PN-11 and IR73707-45-3-2-3-1-0-MR-1, while the other two, B11007E-MR-3-2-PN-1-2 and B11007E-MR-3-2-PN-1-2 have low amylose content. The head rice recovery of white glutinous rice namely B10543E-PN-17-1 (79%) better than Ciasem (75%). Based on head rice recovery, there were 5 lines have fulfilled the IV class quality (head rice recovery minimally 73%) and 5 lines have fulfilled the V class quality (head rice recovery minimally 84%) of milled standard No. 01-6128-1 rice Indonesian National Standard No. 01-6128-1999. Five lines have low gelatinization temperature, ten lines were medium, and the line B10543E-PN-17-1 and glutinous rice Ciasem have high gelatinization temperature.
Abstrak
Padi Tipe Baru (PTB) mempunyai potensi hasil lebih tinggi dibanding dengan varietas unggul bukan tipe baru. Agar diadopsi oleh petani dan konsumen, disamping memiliki potensi hasil yang tinggi, PTB juga harus memiliki mutu beras yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi mutu beras galur-galur harapan PTB yang berasal dari percobaan materi uji multi lokasi dan uji daya hasil lanjutan PTB 2007. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa galur-galur harapan PTB mempunyai rendemen beras pecah kulit 74-79%, beras giling 60-68%, dan beras kepala 42-97%. Semua galur yang diuji mempunyai ukuran panjang beras termasuk kategori long antara 6,60-7,50, bentuk beras medium antara 2,1-3,0 dan pengapuran bervariasi dari large (besar, >20%) sampai small (kecil, <10%). Sebanyak 11 galur berkadar amilosa tinggi, yang paling tinggi terdapat pada galur B10528F-KN-29-3 yaitu 27,44%. Dua galur berkadar amilosa sedang yaitu BP23F-PN-11 dan IR73707-45-3-2-3-1-0-MR-1, dan dua galur lainnya mempunyai kadar amilosa rendah yaitu B11007E-MR-3-2-PN-1-2 dan B11007E-MR-3-2-PN-1-2. Rendemen beras kepala galur ketan putih yaitu B10543E-PN-17-1 (79%) lebih baik dari Ciasem (75%). Berdasarkan rendemen beras kepala, sebanyak 5 galur telah memenuhi kelas mutu IV (rendemen BK minimal 73%) dan 5 galur telah memenuhi kelas mutu III (rendemen BK minimal 84%) SNI beras giling No. 01-6128-1999. Sebanyak 5 galur mempunyai suhu gelatinisasi rendah, sepuluh galur termasuk varietas pembanding Ciherang bersuhu gelatinisasi sedang. Galur B10543E-PN-17-1 dan varietas ketan Ciasem mempunyai suhu gelatinisasi tinggi.
