| dc.description.abstract | Abstrak Permasalahan paling mendasar dalam peningkatan produktivitas padi di lahan tadah hujan adalah ketersediaan air. Salah satu media penyimpan air yang banyak digunakan dalam industri tanaman hias adalah polimer penahan air (PPA). Kristal- kristal hydrogel pada PPA mampu menyimpan air sebesar 600 kali dari bobotnya. Oleh karena itu telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai efek pemakaian polymer penahan air (PPA) terhadap padi varietas inpari 4 di lahan tadah hujan, Desa Serdang, Deli Serdang Sumatera Utara. 5 (lima) level PPA yaitu 0 kg/ha (P0), 2 kg/ha (P1), 4 kg/ha (P2), 2 kg/ha + 4 ton/ha pupuk kandang (P3) dan 4 kg/ha + 4 ton/ha pupuk kandang (P4) diuji efektivitasnya terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil gabah padi. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah bahwa terjadi peningkatan yang signifikan terhadap jumlah anakan produktif, berat 1000 butir, jumlah gabah isi/malai serta hasil gabah masing-masing sebesar 56%, 42,5% dan 52,1%. Kemampuan PPA sebagai media penyimpan air memberikan hasil yang positif terhadap peningkatan produktivitas padi sehingga dapat direkomendasikan kepada petani tadah hujan. Abstract The most fundamental problem in increasing rice productivity in rainfed rice field is water availability. Therefore, research on the effect of superabsorbent polymer (PPA) on inpari 4 variety had been conducted in rainfed rice field. One of the most commonly used water storage media in the ornamental plant industry is water- retaining polymer (PPA). The hydrogel crystals in PPA are capable of storing water 600 times of its weight. 5 (five) levels of PPA namely 0 kg / ha (P0), 2 kg /ha (P1), 4 kg / ha (P2), 2 kg / ha + 4 ton / ha manure (P3) and 4 kg / ha + 4 tons/ha of manure (P4) were tested on growth performance of paddy. The result showed a significant increase on the number of productive tillers, weight of 1000 grains, the number of grain / panicles and grain yield respectively by 56%, 42,5%, 20,5% and 52,1%. The ability of PPA as a water storage medium gave a positive result on increasing rice productivity thus recommended to apply in rainfed rice field. | |
