Abstract
In traditional health care, the Mimusaps elengi L leaves were used to cure various skin
diseases such as eczema, scabies, ulcers, and infec'ed wounds. The Mimusops lengi L ieaf powder contained alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin and saponin; whereas the leaf extract contained alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, saponin and glycocide. In this conjunction, the diffusion method was employed to determine the bactericide effects of the four concentrations of the Mimusops elengi L
leaf extract i.e., 50%, 25%, 12.5%, and 6.35%. The results demonstrated that on average, the 50% concentration produced 2.33 mm diameter of the bacterial growth inhibition zones on Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Further tests showed that the smallest extract's concentration to produce the bacterial growth inhibition zones was 3.125% on S. aureus, and 6.25% on P. aerouginosa.
