dc.description.abstractAbstract Growth and Yield Performance of New Plant Type Rice Grown under Two Planting Systems in Irrigated Lowland Area. An experiment on growth and yield performance of New Plant Type (NPT) genotypes has been conducted at the Sukamandi Experimental Station of the Indonesian Center for Rice Research, during the dry season of 2007. The objective of this experiment was to study the responses of the NPT genotypes to two planting systems, direct seeding and transplanting. The experiment was arranged in a Split Plot Design with 3 replications. The main plots were three planting systems, i.e. transplanting with the space of 20 cm x 20 cm, transplanting with the space of 20 cm x 10 cm, and direct seeding with space of 20 cm x 5 cm. The sub-plots were two NPT varieties, Le. Fatmawati and Gilirang, one NPT breeding line, i.e. BP360E-MR-79-Pn-2, and one superior variety, i.e. IR64. Analyses of variance (ANOVA) revealed that NPT genotypes and planting systems were significantly affect the growth and yield characters, but not the interaction of these two factors. The highest grain yields were 7.29 t and 7.21 t/ha demonstrated by Fatmawati and Gilirang. respectively, and were significantly different from that of IR64 and BP360E-MR-79-Pn-2. It was revealed that the yield of rice grown under transplanting system with the space of 20 cm x 20 cm was higher than that of rice grown under direct seeding planting. Abstrak Penelitian penampilan pertumbuhan dan hasil varietas unggul padi tipe baru telah dilakukan di Kebun Percoban Sukamandi, Balai Besar Penelitian Tanaman Padi pada MK 2007. Penelitian bertujuan untuk budidaya yang diterapkan. Penelitian diatur dalam Rancangan Petak Terpisah dengan 3 ulangan. Sebagai petak utama adalah tiga sistem tanam, yaitu tanam pindah dengan jarak 20 cm x 20 cm, tanam pindah dengan jarak 20 cm x 10 cm, dan tanam benih langsung (tabela) dengan jarak 20 cm x 5 cm. Sebagai anak petak adalah dua VUTB (Fatmawati dan Gilirang), satu galur PTB (BP360 E-MR-79-Pn-2), dan satu varietas konvensional (IR64). Analisis sidik ragam (ANOVA) menunjukkan bahwa varietas unggul padi tipe baru dan sistem tanam berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil, tetapi interaksi keduanya tidak nyata. Hasil gabah kering tertinggi dicapai sebesar 7,29 t dan 7,21 t/ha GKG, berturut-turut untuk Fatmawati dan Gilirang, berbeda nyata dibandingkan dengan hasil gabah kering varietas IR64 dan galur BP360E-MR-79-Pn-2. Sistem tanam pindah (tapin) memb ikan hasil lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan tabela. Sistem tanam Japin dengan jarak 20 cm x 20 cm memberikan hasil lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan sistem tanam tabela untuk keempat varietas yang diuji.
