| dc.description.abstract | Abstrak Salah satu dampak perubahan iklim global adalah perubahan pola dan peningkatan curah hujan yang menyebabkan terjadinya banjir di sejumlah daerah. Keadaan tersebut meniadi ancaman serius terhadap produksi beras nasional karena pengaruh rendaman akibat banjir dalam jangka waktu yang cukup lama dapat merusak areal pertanaman padi. Salah satu strategi adaptasi untuk mengurangi kehilangan hasil akibat banjir adalah dengan menanarn varietas yang toleran terhadap rendaman. Melalui program pemuliaan kerjasama antara Balai Besar Penelitian Tanaman Padi (BB padi) dan Lembaga Penelitian padi International (IRRI), telah diperoleh galur padi rawa yang toleran terhadap rendaman yaitu IR70213-9-CPA-12-UBN.2-1-3- I. Galur tersebut berasal dari persilangan UBN3-2-1//lR43524-55-1-3-2 yang dilakukan pada tahun 1994 di IRRI. Potensi hasil dan daya adaptasi galur tersebut telah diuji multilokasi di daerah rawa lebak dan pasang surut di Sumatera Selatan, Kalirnantan Selatan, dan Kalimantan Tengah, dari tahun 2005 sampai dengan 2007. Berdasarkan hasil uji multilokasi tersebut, galur IR70213-9.CPA-12- UBN-2-1-3-1 menunjukkan rata-rata hasil gabah kering giling Vha, setara dengan hasil yang dicapai Oleh varietas pembanding IR42 dan BatangHxhari. Galur ini memiliki tinggi tanarnan 108 cm. jurnlah anakan produktif 17 batang dan urnur panen 126 hari. Hasil pengujian di rurnah kaca menunjukkan galur ini toleran terhadap rendaman air penuh selama 6 hari pada rase vegetatif awal, agak toleran terhadap keracunan aluminum dan besi. Galur ini memiliki ketahanan yang baik terhadap hama wereng batang cokelat biotipe 3 dan penyakit blas, namun peka terhadap penyakit hawar daun bakteri. Tekstur nasi tergolong pera dengan kadar amilosa 28%. Dengan teknik budidaya yang tepat galur ini dapat tumbuh baik di daerah rawa lebak dan rawa pasang surut potensial, serta dapat ditanam di lahan sawah irigasi yang rawan terhadap banjir (flashflood area). Galur tersebut telah dilepas sebagai varietas unggul baru dengan nama Inpara 3 Abstract Inpara 3: New Improved Submergence Tolerant Rice Variety for Swampy Areas. The changes in the pattern of precipitation became One of global climate change impact that led to a more frequent occurrence of flood in some areas. This situation threatened the sustainability of national rice production as the damaging effect of submergence to paddy fields. Cultivation of submergence tolerant rice varieties is one of adaptation strategy to reduce yield losses due to flooding. A submergence tolerant rice line, IR70213-9-CPA.12-UBN-2- I -3-1, has been developed through a collaborative research project between the Indonesian Center for Rice Research (ICRR) and the Intemational Rice Research Institute (IRRI). This line which is derived from the crosses of IR57519-PM1.S-B-2-2'1R5255S.UBN3-2-1/,'1R43524- 55-1-3-2 done at IRRI in 1994. The evaluation on the yield potential and the adaptability has been carried Out through a multilocation yield trials in swampy areas of South Sumatera, South Kalimantan, and Central Kalirnantan from 2005 to 2007. Result from this multilocation yield trials indicated that the average yield of this line was 4.6 t/ha which is comparable to the check varieties of IR42 and Batanghari. The plant height of this line was 108 cm; the productive tillers were 1 7 and maturity was 126 days. This line was tolerant to a complete submergence for days in vegetative Stage, tolerance to aluminium and tolerance to iron toxicity in the green house. Another outstanding character of this line are its resistant to the brown plant hopper biotype 3 and blast disease, but it is susceptible to bacterial leaf blight disease. Evaluation on cooking quality revealed that this line has hard texture with amylose content of 28%. This line is suitable for tidal and inland swamp as well as for flash flood areas, and has been released as a new variety named Inpara 3. | |
