dc.description.abstractAbstract Developing Upland Rice within Young Forestry Plants: A Case of KPH Randublatung. Cropping rice crops in areas covered by young forestry plants is expected to contribute to the national rice stock and the welfare of farmers living closely to the forest areas. For that purpose, the technology for the production of upland rice is needed since most farmers still practice the traditional one. Generally, they grow local cultivars, apply in balanced fertilizers, and carry out minimal pest and disease managements. Result of this experiment revealed that the average yield harvested was 5.21 t/ha of milling dried grain, with the range of 3.75-5.99 t/ha. When it was compared to that harvested from the production management mar done by farmer, the yield was increased by 31-120%. Mean of upland rice yield cultivated in an open area reached 3.13 t/ha of milling dried grain, with the range of 2.92-4.04 t/ha. When it was compared to that harvested from the production management done by farmers, the yield increased by 58-124%. Means of upland rice yield cultivated in area covered by 1 year old teak plants reached 4.12 t/ha of milling dried grain, with the range of 3.12-4.34 t/ha. The highest yield was demonstrated by Batutegi, followed by Situ Bagendit and Situ Patenggang. It was observed that the optimum rate of nitrogen fertilizer needed in upland rice was 200 kg/ha, in which the higher rate caused to yield declining. Results of the multilocation trials involving a total of 17 promising lines indicated that the yield reached 4.25 t/ha of milling dried grain, with the range of 4.00-6.08 t/ha. The highest and the lowest yields were performed by the TB490B-TB-1-2-1 and the BIO511B-61-2-3-1 breeding lines, respectively. There were 15 promising lines yielded higher than Limboto and Situ Patenggang varieties. Abstrak Menanam enanam padi di lahan tanaman hutan muda, diharapkan dapat meningkatkan produksi padi nasional dan meningkatkan pendapatan petani yang tinggal di sekitar hutan. Untuk itu, teknologi produksi lahan kering tradisional yang biasa dilakukan petani perlu diperbaiki, sehingga perlu dicari komponen teknologi budidaya padi gogo sebagai tanaman sela pada tanaman HTI muda. Varietas yang ditanam umumnya varietas lokal, pemupukan umumnya belum berimbang (hanya urea dan sedikit SP36), dan pengendalian hama dan penyakit serta gulma sangat terbatas. Kegiatan tumpangsari padi gogo pada kawasan hutan dapat dilakukan sejak tanaman jati siap ditebang (teresan) sampai naungan pertanaman jati muda menutup 50%. Di areal ini, rata-rata hasii varietas padi gogo dapat mencapai 5,21 t/ha GKG, dengan kisaran 3,75-5,99 t/ha. Bila dibandingkan dengan hasil pertanaman petani, varietas unggul dapat meningkatkan hasil sebesar 31-120%. Di areal terbuka, rata-rata hasil padi gogo dapat mencapai 3,13 t/ha GKG, dengan kisaran antara 2,92-4,04 t/ha. Bila dibandingkan dengan hasil pertanaman petani, varietas unggul dapat meningkatkan hasil antara 58-124%. Di areal hutam jati umur 1 tahun, rata-rata hasil padi gogo tumpangsari mencapai 4,12 t/ha GKG, dergan kisaran hasil antara 3,12-43.34 t/ha GKG. Rata-rata hasil tertinggi dipanen dari varietas Batutegi diikuti oleh varietas Situ Bagendit dan Situ Patenggang. Pemupukan nitrogen padi gogo optimal pada dosis 200 kg/ha. Rata-rata produksi uji multi lokasi (UML) sejumlah 17 galur harapan padi gogo mencapai 4,25 t/ha GKG, dengan kisaran 4,00-6,08 t/ha GKP. Hasil tertinggi dipanen dari galur TB490B-TB-1-2-1 dan yang terendah dari galur BIO511B-61-2-3-1. Terdapat 15 galur harapan yang memberikan hasil lebih tinggi daripada varietas Limboto dan Situ Patenggang.
