    Keragaan dan Analisis Finansial Petani Penangkar Benih Padi, Kasus di Penangkar Benih Binaan ΒΡΤΡ Banten

    Abstract Performance and Financial Analysis of Rice Seed Growers in Banten Province. The availability of the high yielding varieties (HYVs) of rice and their quality seeds was definitely needed by the farmers in such an intensive rice production system. Unfortunately, the HYVs and their quality seeds were still rarely adopted by the rice farmers in Banten Province. Until the present time, the rice crops in Banten areas were dominated by IR64 and followed by Ciherang variety scattered around. An experiment to analyses the performance of production, the financial, and the farmers preference was conducted in three districts of Banten Province, namely Serang, Pandeglang, and Lebak in the year of 2007. The descriptive analysis and cross tabulation method was adopted to evaluate both quantitative and qualitative data. Results of this experiment indicated that the rice production were different among locations and varieties. The seed production in Lebak, Pandeglang, and Serang Districts were 4.48, 4.44, and 3.27 t/ha, respectively. The yields of Bondoyudo, Mekongga, Cigeulis, Gilirang, Ciherang. Situ Bagendit, Cibogo, and Ciapus were 4.85, 4.76, 4.73, 4.31, 3.94, 3.84, 3.66, and 2.26 t/ha, respectively. The farmer's income reached between Rp. 4.980.000 to Rp. 15.210.000 with the highest BCR of 2.30 was observed on Bondoyudo and the lowest of 0.96 was on Ciapus, which means that the quality of rice seed farming system was financially feasible. Thee rice varieties, Cigeulis, Gilirang, and Ciheraing, were prospectively feasible to be developed as quality seed industry. Abstrak Ketersediaan benih varietas padi berdaya hasil tinggi yang bermutu, mutlak diperlukan oleh petani. Namun, penggunaan benih bermutu dan varietas unggul oleh petani di Provinsi Banten masih rendah. Saat ini perkembangan varietas padi di Banten didominasi oleh IR64 dan Ciherang. Kajian untuk menganalisis keragaan usahatani, financial, dan minat petani telah dilaksanakan di 3 kabupaten. yaitu Kabupaten Serang, Pandeglang, dan Lebak pada 2007. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan grafik. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa produksi benih padi bervariasi antarlokasi dan antarvarietas. Rata-rata produksi benih padi mencapai 4,48 t. 4,44 t, dan 3,27 t/ha berturut-turut di Kabupaten Lebak, Pandeglang, dan Serang. Produksi benih yang tinggi sebesar 4,85 t, 3,84 t, 4,73 t, dan 4,31 t/ha, berturut-turut dicapai oleh Bondoyudo, Mekongga, Cigeulis, dan Gilirang. Sementara produksi rendah sebesar 3,94 t, 3,84 t, 3,66 t, dan 2,26 t/ha berturut-turut dihasilkan oleh Ciherang. Situ Bagendit, Cibogo, dan Ciapus. Secara finansial, usaha penangkaran benih sangat menguntungkan. Keuntungan berkisar antara Rp. 4,98 juta sampai Rp. 15.21 juta dengan total biaya berkisar antara Rp.5,19 juta sampai Rp. 6,60 juta. Nilai imbangan antara keuntungan dan biaya produksi (nisbah B/C) tertinggi sebesar 2,30 dan terendah 0,96, ditunjukkan berturut-turut oleh varietas Bondoyudo dan Ciapus. Namun berdasarkan minat petani varietas yang prospektif untuk dikembarıgkan dalam usaha perbenihan padi adalah Cigeulis, Gilirang, dan Ciherang.
