    Efektivitas antibakteri minyak atsiri kulit daun jeruk nipis (Citrus auratifolia Swingle) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis, S. aureus, Escherichia coli dan Pseudomonas sp. telah diuji di Balai Besar Penelitian Veteriner (Bbalitvet) Bogor. Rancangan percobaan adalah acak lengkap pola faktorial 3x4 dengan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi minyak atsiri (50%, 75%, dan 100%) dan faktor kedua adalah 4 isolat bakteri. Hasil pengukuran diameter daerah hambat (DDH) pertumbuhan menunjukkan bahwa makir tinggi konsentrasi minyak atsiri yang digunakan, makin besar DDH pertumbuhan bakteri yang terbentuk. Daya antibakteri minyak atsiri kulit jeruk nipis paling sensitif terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus.

    PENGARUH MINYAK ATSIRI OREGANO (Oreganum vulgare) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN BAKTERI Staphylococcus aureus DAN Escherichia coli

    The invitro antibacterial test of Oregano (Oreganum vulgare) essential oil was done toward the growth of two bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli). This study used factorial experiment with first factor essential oil concentration (100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25% and 3.125%) while the second factor was two bacteria isolates. Every treatment had three replications. The results showed that increasing essential oil concentration result in increasing the growth inhibition zone of bacteria. Escherichia coli was the most sensitive bacteria isolated to Oregano essential oil.
