Among these phytochemicals is the broad class of nonsteroidal estrogens called phytoestrogens. These phytoestrogens and their metabolites have many potential hormonal and nonhormonal activities that may explain some of the biological effects of diets rich in phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens are plant (predominantly legumes) substances, that have structural and functional similiarity to 17β-estradiol, that influence a variety of biological processes. Phytoestrogens are widely used in the human reproductive system, but in livestock, it has not been used yet. Prior study on its role livestock, as a first step, it needs to be exploring the content of phytoestrogens on legumes plants. This study was aimed to determine the content of phytoestrogens of various legumes plans (soya bean straw, peanut straw and green bean straw) by using KLT Densitometry method with genistein standard. The research found that from several legume plants, the legume plants that contained soy phytoestrogens was only soya bean straw either dried using a drying oven or using a freeze dryer content with genistein of each was 0,498 g/100 g dry matter, and 1,748 g/100 g sry matter, uspectinely.
- ItemPROFIL HORMON ESTROGEN DAN PROGESTERON INDUK SAPI SILANGAN SIMMENTAL-PERANAKAN ONGOLE DENGAN SUPLEMENTASI LEGUM SEBAGAI SUMBER FITOESTROGEN(Balai Pengkajian Teknologi Pertanian Papua, 2011-12) Tiro, Batseba M.W; Baliarti, Endang; Soetrisno, R. Djoko; Hartadi, Hari; Kustono; Kementerian PertanianPenelitian ini bertujuan untik mengetahui bagaimana perkembangan folikel serta profil hormone induk sapi SimPO pasca beranak dengan adanya suplementasi legume sebagai sumber fitoestrogen. Penelitian dilaksanakan sejak bulan Juli sampai Desember 2010 di Kandang Laboratorium Ternak Potong, fakultas Peternakan UGM. Menggunakan 15 ekor induk sapi SimPO pasca beranak yang dibagi dalam 3 kelompok perlakuan. Perlakuannya adalah P0 : control (hanya diberi pakan standar); P1 : P0 + 5 g fitoestrogen dan PII : P0 + 10 g fitoestrogen. Suplementasi fitoestrogen berasal dari jerami kedelai. Parameter yang diamati meliputi profil hormone estrogen, progesterone dan dinamika perkembangan folikel pasca beranak. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi 5 g fitoestrogen lebih berpengaruh nyata terhadap peningkatan konsentrasi hormone estrogen dan progesterone disbanding dengan pemberian 10 g fitoestrogen dan kontrol. Aktivitas ovarium yang ditandai dengan adanya perkembangan folikel pada induk sapi sapi SimPO dimulai pada hari ke 4 pasca beranak pada semua perlakuan namun hanya pada perlakuan PII perkembangan folikelnya mencapai folikel de graaf dengan kadar estrogen 17,801 pg/mL.
