dc.descriptionEnglishMarket share of Indonesian tea in the world tea market decreased from 10,8 percent in 1993 to merely 9,2 percent in 1996. On the other hand, most of export ad tea (96,7%) is still in the bulk form. One of the factors to increase competitiveness and added value of Indonesian tea commodity is technology. Currently, technology is the main factors to gain the national competitiveness. This paper describes the role of technology increasing competitiveness and also explains, some strategies to increase the capability of technology such as bench marking, reengineering, kaizen, Deming cycle, and quality management system ISO 9000, the condition of technology capability in Indonesia tea industry, and the synthesis of technology capability system in Indonesia tea industry. In this system, the dynamic interaction starts from the need of changing, determines changing strategy and implementation process, increases sophisticated technology components and learning process, and increases capability of technology which will accelerate the technology capability in Indonesian tea industry. IndonesianPangsa ekspor teh Indonesia di pasar dunia menurun dari 10,8 persen pada tahun 1993 menjadi hanya 9,2 persen pada tahun 1996. Disamping itu 96,7 persen ekspor masih dalam bentuk bahan mentah (teh curah). Salah satu faktor yang dapat meningkatkan daya saing dan nilai tambah komoditas teh Indonesia adalah teknologi. Saat ini, teknologi memerankan peran yang sangat penting untuk memenangkan kompetisi nasional. Tulisan ini membahas tentang peran teknologi terhadap keunggulan bersaing termasuk komponen dan tingkat kemampuan teknologi dan mekanisme peran teknologi terhadap peningkatan daya saing, beberapa strategi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan teknologi, kondisi kemampuan penguasaan teknologi industri teh di Indonesia, dan hasil pemikiran mengenai alternatif sistem penguasaan teknologi industri teh di Indonesia. Sistem penguasaan teknologi teh di Indonesia merupakan suatu interaksi dinamika mulai dari kebutuhan akan perubahan, penetapan strategi perubahan, proses implementasi, peningkatan kecanggihan komponen-komponen teknologi, proses belajar, dan peningkatan kemampuan teknologi yang menentukan kecepatan peningkatan kemampuan teknologi industri teh Indonesia secara terus  menerus.en-US
