| dc.description.abstract | Lanas pests are the main pests in sweet potato plantations. The control carried out by farmers is only on the upper surface of the leaves by spraying even though the lanas pests enter and damage the tuber tissue. The purpose of this study was to compare the pest population of Cylas formicarius in cultivated areas by farmers and isolated areas. The imago catch of male insect Cylas formicarius with sex pheromone formula in the purple sweet potato cultivation area managed by farmers was the highest with an average number of 7,932 individuals, then at week 10 with an average of 3,834 individuals. The highest catch of AC yam (white) was 5,561 heads, while the other AC yams were 760. Population fluctuations occur due to differences in the types of sweet potatoes planted and the age of the different plants. The installed sex pheromones can be smelled by male insects based on the cardinal directions which is an invitation to mate. In non-cultivated areas, the highest catch was 3547 fish and decreased at week 10 as many as 1,551 fish. Special areas for cultivation of sweet potato damage caused by lanas pests reached 35-42%. A good average yield can be reached 6.45 tons/ha with damage to sweet potatoes reaching 2,826.25- 3,633, 75 tons/ha. The damage was still quite high because populations from other sweet potato cultivation directions were also attracted to the pheromone traps tested. | en_US |
