dc.descriptionABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh sumber nitrogen antara KNO3 dan (NH4)2SO4 terhadap pertumbuhan bibit anggrek Vanda. Unsur N diperlukan untuk pertumbuhan vegetatif. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Rumah Sere Balai Penelitian Tanaman Hias di Pasarminggu, mulai bulan November 2006 sampai dengan Mei 2007. Bahan penelitian yang digunakan adalah bibit anggrek Vanda dengan ukuran tinggi 3 cm dan jumlah daun 5 helai. Media tumbuh yang digunakan adalah arang dan sabut kelapa. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak kelompok dengan 7 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah 0 (kontrol), 0,4%, 0,5%, dan 0,6% KNO3, 0,4%, 0,5%, dan 0,6% (NH4)2SO4. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan KNO3 0,5% memperlihatkan pertumbuhan tinggi bibit, panjang daun, lebar daun, luas daun, jumlah daun, dan jumlah akar paling baik dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya. Penggunaan KNO3 sebagai sumber nitrogen lebih baik bila dibandingkan dengan (NH4)2SO4 pada pertumbuhan anggrek Vanda.ABSTRACT. Widiastoety, D. 2008. The Effect of KNO3 and (NH4)2SO4 on the Growth of Vanda Seedling. The objective of the research was to determine the nitrogen sources from KNO3 and (NH4)2SO4 on the growth of Vanda seedling. N nutrient is needed for vegetative growth. The experiment was conducted in the Greenhouse of Indonesian Ornamental Crops Research Institute at Pasarminggu, from November 2006 to May 2007. Vanda seedlings used in the experiment were 3 cm of height with initially had 5 leaves. The seedlings were grown on the media of charcoal and coconut husk mixture. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with 7 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were control, 0.4%, 0.5%, and 0.6% KNO3, 0.4%, 0.5%, and 0.6% (NH4)2SO4. The results showed that 0.5% KNO3 indicated the best growth of leaf length, leaf width, leaf area, leaf number, and root number compared to other treatments. The use of KNO3 as nitrogen source was better than (NH4)2SO4 on the growth of Vanda seedling.en-US
