dc.description ABSTRAK. Krisan merupakan komoditas tanaman hias yang penting pada industri florikultura nasional. Peningkatan harga input produksi akhir-akhir ini menyebabkan penurunan pendapatan petani, sehingga dikhawatirkan dapat mengakibatkan kelesuan pada agribisnis tanaman hias. Usaha peningkatan pendapatan petani krisan dapat dilakukan melalui efisiensi penggunaan input produksi, salah satunya adalah melakukan budidaya tanaman induk pada kondisi terbuka. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui performa pertumbuhan varietas-varietas krisan sebagai tanaman induk dan kualitas stek yang dihasilkan di lahan terbuka dan di bawah kondisi rumah plastik. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Balai Penelitian Tanaman Hias, Segunung dari bulan November 2003 hingga Mei 2004. Dua belas varietas krisan komersial, yaitu Sakuntala, Larasati, Kartini, Nyi Ageng Serang, Dewi Ratih, Dewi Sartika, Cut Nyak Dien, Saraswati, Chandra Kirana, Cut Nyak Meutia, Cat Eye, dan Town Talk ditanam sebagai tanaman induk untuk produksi stek pada 2 kondisi pertanaman. Kondisi pertanaman tersebut adalah di bawah kondisi rumah plastik dan kondisi lahan terbuka. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan 3 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa respons varietas terhadap kondisi pertanaman berbeda nyata terlihat dari perbedaan produktivitas tanaman induk dan kualitas stek yang dihasilkan. Secara umum produktivitas tanaman induk dan kualitas stek varietas-varietas krisan yang ditanam di lahan terbuka lebih rendah daripada yang ditanam di bawah kondisi rumah plastik. Namun, di antara 12 varietas krisan yang dicoba, hanya cv. Cut Nyak Dien yang mempunyai daya adaptasi yang paling baik di antara varietas lainnya, terbukti dari produktivitas tanaman induk dan kualitas stek yang tidak berbeda nyata antarkedua tempat tersebut.ABSTRACT. Chrysanthemum was one of the important ornamental plant in national floriculture agribusiness. The increase of production cost due to the increase of input prices have led in to the unfavorable business conditions. Efforts have been made to make chrysanthemum production become more competitive and profitable. One of the production input cost, that can be reduced was planting the stock plants for cutting production under open conditions. The research was conducted to find out the stock plant productivity and the cutting quality produced under plastichouse and open conditions. The research was carried out in Indonesian Ornamental Plant Research Institute, from November 2003 to May 2004. Twelve commercial chrysanthemum varieties, i.e. Sakuntala, Larasati, Kartini, Nyi Ageng Serang, Dewi Ratih, Dewi Sartika, Cut Nyak Dien, Saraswati, Chandra Kirana, Cut Nyak Meutia, Cat Eye, and Town Talk were planted as mother stock for cutting production under 2 set of environmental conditions, i.e. under plastichouse and open conditions. A randomized completely block design with 3 replications was used in each location. The results of the experiment showed that varietal differences were found significant among the varieties tested in terms of plant productivity and cutting quality, in both locations. To all varieties tested, better productivity and cutting quality were produced by the stock plants grown under plastichouse than those under open conditions. However, insignificant differences of cutting quality and average number of cuttings produced per plant were found by well adapted cv. Cut Nyak Dien at both planting conditions en-US
