Description:
Control of stem borer on clove at Cimanggu experimental garden.About38.6% of clove planting from Zanzibar and its descendent, Sikotok and Ambon type at Cimanggu experimental garden were attacked by Noothopeus spp. stem borer. The number of active holes/tree varied from 1 – 30. After the application of Azodrin 15 WSC, 0.6 – 1.0 ml/hole and closed each hole with a bamboo pin, the active holes were rest at 1.53% or lower. A single application could not control the active holes up to 100%, except on light attack. It seemed that Zanzibar type and its descendent were more liable to the attack compared to Sikotok and Ambon type. The age of the tree influenced the level of the attack, more younger trees attacked compared with the older ones.
