Soil Moisture Balance Analysis Due to Land Use Change in Masien Sub –Wathershed, CentralKalimantan. Water availability is very important during dry months, because of low precipitation andevapotranspiration processes from soil surface and plants. The aim of this research was to predict the changeof soil moisture deficit and evapotranspiration, due to forest change to grass land use in Masien Sub-Watershedof Central Kalimantan. Analysis was based on monthly average precipitation and precipitation > 50% based ongamma distribution probability. Result of this study indicated that higher forest land had soil moisture deficit andactual evapotranspiration than after change to grass land use. The use of average precipitation is resulting lowsoil moisture deficit and evapotranspiration than precipitation > 50% based on gamma distribution probability.Keys words: Evapotranspiration, forest, Imperata cylindrica, Central Kalimantan. Ketersediaan air sangat penting terutama di musim kemarau, sebab pada musim tersebut curah hujan rendahdan juga terjadi proses evapotranspirasi dari permukaan tanah dan tanaman. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memprediksiperubahan besarnya defisit air tanah dan evapotanspirasi akibat perubahan landuse, yaitu dari hutan menjadi lahan alangalang(Imperata cylindrica) di Sub-DAS (Daerah Aliran Sungai) Masien Kalimantan Tengah. Analisis didasarkanpada curah hujan rata-rata dan curah hujan berpeluang melampaui 50% berdasarkan peluang sebaran gamma. Hasilnyamenunjukkan bahwa landuse hutan mengalami defisit air tanah dan evapotranspirasi aktual lebih tinggi dibandingkansetelah landuse berubah menjadi alang-alang. Penggunaan curah hujan rata-rata menunjukkan defisit air tanahjauh lebih rendah dibandingkan penggunaan curah hujan melampaui 50% berdasarkan peluang distribusi gamma.Kata kunci: Evapotranspirasi, hutan, Imperata cylindrica, Kalimantan Tengah
