Abstract
The low-temperature stress is the main obstacle in cultivating rice in the highlands. Many highland farmers continue to plant rice alongside other horticultural crops, to meet their own food needs. The use of local varieties still dominates rice cultivation in the highlands because the government has not released many rice varieties for highland areas. This study aims to observe the performance and yield of irrigated rice breeding lines, which have potential to be developed in the highlands. The advanced yield trial (AYT) was conducted at Sentral Baru, Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu. A total of 16 promising lines and four check varieties (Sarinah, Batang Piaman, Inpari 21 Batipuah, and Inpari 28) were planted using a randomized block design research method (RCBD) with 3 replications. The spacing used was 25 cm × 25 cm, with a plot area per genotype of 15 m2. Based on the results of ANOVA analysis and honest significant difference post hoc, eight lines identified has an equivalent yield to all the check varieties, and two of them were also selected in the Garut trial site. Both lines are strong candidates for further multilocations test.
